Cypress Path

The wind is so constant and strong at Point Reyes that the cypress trees grow at an angle. Always fun to walk the path under them. The building in the foreground provides 4 apartments for Park Rangers.

Battery 129 in the Fog

Battery Construction 129 in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Normally a commanding view of the Pacific and San Francisco, the fog creates an eerie effect. This is at the top of Hill 129, now known as Hawk Hill. It’s a WW II coastal defense gun emplacement that was never completed. Thankfully, it was never needed.

Nicasio St Marys

Old St. Mary's church in Nicasio, CA. Quite possibly the oldest, continuously operating Catholic Church west of the Mississippi - established in 1867. Sunday mass at 11:15.
